The majority of the inhabitants of the Swedish archipelago live on the west coast. Our Leader area consists of most of the archipelago of "Göteborg & Bohuslän". To be more precise it includes all islands without a permanent link to the mainland. It also includes the counties´ three northern municipalities; Sotenäs, Tanum and Strömstad. About 19 000 inhabit the islands of the Leader area.
The majority, around 15 000 - 16 000, live on the southern islands near Göteborg. The rest live fairly evenly distributed across the rest of the archipelago. Least inhabited are the islands in the area of Uddevalla, Lysekil and Tanum.
The Leader program has emerged from half a years work. Local engaged people, persons from farmers and fishermens labour organisations, emplyees from the county council and the city communities and people from NGO:s from the area have taken part in this work.
The Leader program contains three main areas in which work is planned. Here we will try to give a short presentation on these main areas:
